چکیده
This is a short comment on “The impacts of land plant evolution Earth's climate and oxygenation state – An interdisciplinary review” by Tais W. Dahl Susanne K.M. Arens, Chem. Geol. 547 (2020) Article 119665. We discuss what the sedimentary-stratigraphic record (SSR) can reveal about influence ancient plants erosion, demonstrate that intensive properties SSR are supportive hypotheses vegetation slowed global erosion rates.

LAND USE: U.S. Soil Erosion Rates--Myth and Reality.
No problem of resource or environmental management can be rationally addressed until its true space and time dimensions are known. The limitations of the universal soil loss equation and the wind erosion equation are such that we do not seem to have a truly informed idea of how much soil erosion is occurring in this country, let alone of the processes of sediment movement and deposition. The un...
متن کاملLand Plant Evolution: Listen to Your Elders
The genetic and molecular basis of the developmental programs underlying adaptive morphological changes is largely unknown. A new study reveals an ancient gene that has been instrumental for the generation of morphological diversity and adaptation in land plants.
متن کاملThe timescale of early land plant evolution
Establishing the timescale of early land plant evolution is essential for testing hypotheses on the coevolution of land plants and Earth's System. The sparseness of early land plant megafossils and stratigraphic controls on their distribution make the fossil record an unreliable guide, leaving only the molecular clock. However, the application of molecular clock methodology is challenged by the...
متن کاملThe evolution of land plant cilia.
Eukaryotic cilia/flagella are ancient organelles with motility and sensory functions. Cilia display significant ultrastructural conservation where present across the eukaryotic phylogeny; however, diversity in ciliary biology exists and the ability to produce cilia has been lost independently on a number of occasions. Land plants provide an excellent system for the investigation of cilia evolut...
متن کاملEvolution of the Land Plant Exocyst Complexes
Exocyst is an evolutionarily conserved vesicle tethering complex functioning especially in the last stage of exocytosis. Homologs of its eight canonical subunits - Sec3, Sec5, Sec6, Sec8, Sec10, Sec15, Exo70, and Exo84 - were found also in higher plants and confirmed to form complexes in vivo, and to participate in cell growth including polarized expansion of pollen tubes and root hairs. Here w...
